Land Donations

The function of the Trust is to keep and maintain the land it owns in its natural state as a wildlife preserve. All Trust property is open to the public and maybe used for hiking, birding, and natural science study. Hunting is prohibited while picnicking and camping are not encouraged. The trust concept is not aimed at developing recreation areas, but rather at establishing and protecting local sites where indigenous ecosystems may flourish and may be enjoyed by people as such.

Every piece of land set aside becomes a spot of unspoiled beauty – helping to preserve the appeal of our city. By donating land, you ensure that it will be preserved for future generations. A legacy or endowment willed to the Trust is always a welcome donation and all land donations are tax deductible.

Each and every piece of land offered to the Trust would be considered on its own merits, and it is possible that lots which have aspects unique or valuable to the Trust objective would be deemed acceptable although not strictly within the established criteria.

  • SIZE: The Trust is particularly interested in parcels of land one acre or more in size unless contiguous with land already owned by the Trust or simultaneously being offered to the Trust.
  • LOCATION: The size, shape, and location of the parcel must be such as to permit natural forces to dominate the ecology of this site.
  • CONDITION: The parcel must be undeveloped or capable of being restored to a natural state.
  • ACCESS: There must be a point of public access.
